Resilient South is a partnership between the Cities of Holdfast Bay, Marion, Mitcham and Onkaparinga and the Government of South Australia. One of eleven Regional Climate Partnerships (RCPs) operating across the state, Resilient South works to strengthen southern Adelaide so that our their businesses, communities and environments can respond to the challenges of climate change.
About the Role
The Regional Coordinator will drive climate resilience by renewing and implementing the Resilient South Climate Change Action Plan. The Coordinator will report to the Resilient South Program Management Committee, which comprises representatives of the partners. The role will be hosted by the City of Marion, with day to day oversight by the Unit Manager Environment and Sustainability.
Key outcomes of the role include:
- Oversee the review of the Program Management Committee governance structure.
- Coordinate the renewal of the Resilient South Sector Agreement for Climate Change Adaptation.
- Work collaboratively with state government, the Local Government Association and other RCPs for regional climate change hazard mapping and risk assessments and risk assessment consistency, including the development of key performance indicators and strategies.
- Propose a model for funding the Regional Coordinator position beyond the initial first year.
You will have detailed knowledge of climate change adaptation and mitigation principles and issues relevant to local government. You will be experienced in documenting and implementing business processes including project management, strategy and policy development, program delivery and the management of contractors and consultants. An ability to work independently and with ambiguity is also important to your success.
Armed with exceptional communication skills, you will be able to inform, negotiate and influence, taking into account the nuances of political processes, applying your experience in delivery of complex projects with multiple stakeholders. Essential to this role is your agility and resilience.
These skills and experience should be supported by tertiary qualification in environmental management, sustainability, public policy, communications or planning related fields.
This position is an initial 12 month contract on a 0.8 FTE basis where the days and hours may be negotiated. There is the potential for this position to be extended beyond the initial first year, subject to the outcome of the funding proposal developed in year one.
